Application is calling for mccPILOTLOG_vista7.msi file :
The MSI (Microsoft Software Installer) file is the installer package used for installation, storage, and removal of the mccPILOTLOG logbook application on Windows computers. You can free download the MSI file from our website Download page.
The installer package contains different components :
- the actual installer software, responsible for installing and registering the executable
- the mccPILOTLOG executable and all associated files needed to run the logbook, such as the database and images
- the un-installer software, allowing you to remove the executable and other files from your PC
- the installation monitoring tool
The installation monitoring tool is continuously monitoring the software and associated files. If any of the files installed on your PC is removed or damaged, the monitoring tool will pop-up (as shown above) and suggest to re-install the missing component.
What happened ?
History shows that in many cases, the missing component is actually not missing but has been replaced with a newer component (typically with Windows system updates) or the component is no longer needed (mccPILOTLOG logbook updates).
It may also happen that you have removed another application from your PC and the un-installer software from that application has removed a commonly-used component shared with mccPILOTLOG.
So, at this stage, the installation monitoring tool has detected that one of the original files has been removed from your PC, and it is trying to re-install that component for you.
How to fix ?
To re-install the missing component, you need the original MSI file. In most cases, that MSI file was removed from your PC immediately after installation or when cleaning-up the Download folder...
Unfortunately, downloading the MSI file from our website, will not work. This is because each MSI file has a different digital signature and they cannot be intermixed.
So, the only way to get rid of that message, is to remove and re-install mccPILOTLOG. Follow the steps that are explained in the following on-line solution - Case c) :
Note : we have de-activated the installation monitoring tool from the latest MSI file. You will no longer get that same message in the future, even when a file is missing. Instead, our software will monitor and alert when files are missing.
